That's Better!

After all the rough weather, we were glad to find Tenby and the harbour tranquil in the sun on a glorious Sunday morning and had a good walk round the town, Castle Hill, Town Beach and South Beach.

Ready for the next trip out!

View from the harbour across North Beach

Harbour rust.

Town Beach and South Beach were quite busy, with folks out and about for a breath of fresh air after all the rough weather of the weekend.

Short Mat Bowls

We have spent our day short mat bowling in the Pembrokeshire Short Mat Bowls Annual Rinks Competition (a fours competition) for The South Pembrokeshire Shield, at Heatherton http://www.heatherton.co.uk/ . We put our short mats down on the main long mat indoor rink there and had eight mats out today.

Our team, from Llanteg, won the first match of our three, but then lost the other two and so did not progress on to the second round. We played (nearly) our best, but it was not good enough as there were some very good players attending today. So it was an early bath for us! Our next Heatherton competition will be the Annual Open Pairs Competition for The Joan Proctor Memorial Shield in December.

If you are interested in finding out more about short mat bowls here are some links to help you :

putting "short mat bowls" in any search engine should give you plenty of information.

Forest of Dean

We have had a few days away walking in the Forest of Dean and in the Cyril Hart Arboretum and managed it just before the really bad weather set in!

"The long, misty path."

Dawn Redwood. (Metasequoia Glyptostroboides)

Brilliant reflections, but not really enough light.

Very wet, misty and atmospheric.

Remembrance

After watching the Remembrance Parade at the Cenotaph, we went to the War Memorial above Freshwater West, Castlemartin to leave crosses in memory of Sgt Donald William Walker of Bomber Command, aged 21 (24 December 1943) and Pte Walter William Scroggs of York & Lancaster Regiment, aged 33 (12 November 1916).
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Freshwater West on a beautiful day!

A lovely walk at Freshwater West today. Lots of walkers about in brilliant sunshine. The rock formations are quite spectacular and with very interesting geology. Must find out more about the geology of this area.

Tranquil in the afternoon light.

Conglomerate I think and the red rocks look great in the sun.

Fabulous photographic rocks!

More of the red rocks of Freshwater West.

Carew Castle and Mill - one of our favourite short walks.

We did this walk today. The weather had been foul with viscious downpours, but the sun tried to appear and the clouds cleared, so we headed out and were very pleased that we did!

A Couple of Autumn Walks

This blue tit thought it would pay a visit to our utility room this morning!

Evening light at Slebech.
View from the bridge.

Black Pool Mill. Closed now until Easter.
It gets very busy during the summer months.

The first walk took us to Slebech on Friday when we went over the bridge past Black Pool Mill and up to the high ground overlooking Caneston. The light was wonderful.
