New Year's Day Swim Saundersfoot ...

A record 1307 swimmers took part in Saundersfoot New Years Day swim this morning. We went down to join the crowds.
~
Waiting for the mad rush.
~
The Lifeguards were there too - just in case ...
~
The Coastguards tried to keep us all in order ...
~
There were a few odd, wet people wandering around!
~
Most rushed in and got out very quickly, so I couldn't photograph them all, but there is lots on the internet.
~
The Mexican couldn't quite believe what he was seeing ...
~
But he couldn't walk on water!!
~
Saundersfoot holds this swim every year and raises thousands for charity. Last year they raised £30,000 and are hoping for more this year. There were a couple of thousand people on the beach and surrounding harbour. It was a lot of fun, but jolly cold!
~
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi, Ann - thanks for your comment on mine - I seemed to shake the bug off, thank goodness! New Year's Day at Saundersfoot looks a gas! You didn't brave the water yourself?! Happy New Year, Abby x

I think I would have to wear a wet suit to join in the swim nowadays Abby, although I have done a Christmas Day swim in Sennen once and a New Year's Day in Penzance once a long time ago. Will keep it in mind for the future though! Ann x
