Is this war or rape! .....

It was very viscious at the bottom of the garden this morning.
We had never seen anything like it.
~
At first we thought they were mating, but then we thought otherwise.
The poor robin underneath looked terrified, but perhaps that is rough robin-sex.
They did both fly off, apparently none the worse for wear, eventually.
Does anyone know the answer?
~
After the trauma I took a peaceful walk around the rest of the garden.
~
Clematis and roses - calming and peaceful - looking glorious in the sunshine.
We sunbathed this afternoon.
Hope you had a good day.

Gosh...I would have had to have had a stiff drink....but i think the birds were most likely having a good time.

I used to work for a vet, whose surgery fronted a large pond. We used to see ducks mating and the males would hold on to the back of the females necks, almost drowning them if they happened to be in the water!

Obviously our robins were actually having a good time then! The dominant robin was certainly hanging on by his beak to the other one's neck really tightly and even picked her up and took her across the garden hanging on tight. Tough love eh!! Ann x

There is a bit of frenzied activity in my garden at the moment too - must be spring in the air !

Oooh your blog title got me worried there. Glad to read that its just natures going wild! I'm hearing a lot of bird chirping in my garden too, but not seen any 'sexual activity'.
